Mrs. Gunlock

Welcome back to school!

My name is Diane Gunlock; I am married and my husband Jody is the Emergency Manager for Divide County, we have    three adult children two married with children and our youngest lives with us and works in a local restaurant. We also have three beautiful grandchildren, Kallie is 7 and in First Grade, Liliana is 2, and our youngest and newest is our grandson Braeden he is eight months old. My husband and I grew up in Divide County, Jody in Noonan and me in Crosby. We returned to Divide County after 28 years away to spend time with our aging parents and siblings that live in the area.
I am excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher for this school year. This is my 18th-year teaching and my third-year teaching in Divide County Elementary School. I look forward to meeting each of you and developing a strong relationship to help your child be successful in school. To help build a strong connection with each of you I will be sending home a weekly newsletter to let you know what we will be learning about in the coming week. I will also give suggestions in the newsletter of things you can do at home to help your child. Please take the time each day to go through your child’s folder and planner and talk about how they feel their day went for them. Don’t be afraid to ask them what they think went well for them at school as well as what they struggled with in class. This provides you an opportunity to hear about their successes and help them think of strategies to improve areas that they struggle with. As kindergarteners our only homework for the year is Reading At Home, or RAH. I ask that each child listen and read for 15-20 minutes each night. This one activity will have a lasting impact on your childs vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking skills!

On my homepage, I have added several sidebars on the right these links will give you quick access to areas will help you stay informed and up to date with whats going on in the classroom. I encourage you to check each area out!

As always if you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me via phone or email. However, if you have a serious concern, please do not use email to contact me, please call the school to speak to me or leave a message, and I will return your call as soon as I am able.
Let’s have a fantastic year,

Mrs. Gunlock
